Welcome to the Chinese SDA History website. Here you can find information about the roots of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church in China. The contents in this website are based from the book “100 Year Chinese SDA History,” edited by Samuel Young.

Foreword
In 1992, soon after the writer became secretary of the East Asia Committee (東亞委員會) at the General Conference, Pastor Samuel Young (楊健生), the former secretary, made a suggestion that we publish a book on the history of Adventist work in China. I heartily agreed with his concept, and there had been enthusiastic response from Chinese believers within and without China. They all recognize it as a very worthwhile project. Though the concept was good, the implementation was not an easy one. On various aspects such as manpower, material resources, and financial capability, there were much limitation. As it was unable to employ a full time staff member to engage in this project, it took fully ten years for several volunteers to complete the task. As the year 2002 was the centennial celebration of the official sending of the first batch of Adventist missionaries to China, the publication of the history book is one of the providences of God.
The mainstay of this project is Pastor Samuel Young. He is not only the initiator of the project, but also the active promoter. Regardless the duties are small or big, he would personally carry them. And it is done on a voluntary basis. The second one is Elder David Shen (沈斌仁). For ten years he has been earnestly assisting Pastor Young in collecting materials, typing and proofreading the manuscripts. During the last few years, he has been in ill health, yet he faithfully did his duty. Not to overlook are those workers in the General Conference, the East China Committee, and the Chinese Union Mission who lent their support in various ways in this project. Last but not the least, there are over 200 writers. Without their effort, there would have no such history book.
