Taiwan Adventist Hospital 1955
The Taiwan Adventist Sanitarium and Hospital in Taipei was founded by Dr. Harry Miller and Elder E L Longwayin 1955. In the beginning it had only 50 beds but gradually increased to 150. In the 1980’s, it was found that the simple style of construction was almost impossible to be remodeled to meet the demand of a new generation of affluent patients. So Mr. Albert Deininger (now with the White Memorial Hospital), then the President of TAR, started to make plans for rebuilding, when Dr. Samuel Young became the Chairman in 1981 the speed of planning was quickened. The old buildings were torn down and on the same place a 300-bed 9-stories hospital was built in 1987. It was financed by the sale of one acre of land for US$12-million. At this moment, another structure is being built to double the bed capacity.
