4. Kangding, Tibet
Dahjianlu Hospital 1921
The Kangding Sanitarium and Hospital was built by Dr. J. N. Andrews in 1921. Located in a valley surrounded by mountains over 10,000 ft high, it was a hospital serving the Tibetans. Unfortunately war and a shortage of medical doctors made the operation on and off.
Dr. Andrews was the grandson of Pastor J. N. Andrews, the first SDA foreign missionary, Dr. J N. Andrews’ children, Robert Andrews and Dr. Jean Andrews, a pediatrician, are currently residing in Loma Linda. Robert was able to recall vividly things happened when he was a child over in Tibet.
