The Shenyang Hospital was one of the many hospitals Marshall Chang XueLiang helped build. This one happened to be in his hometown. He wanted Dr.  Miller to build a hospital just like the one in Shanghai and gave Dr. Miller US$100,000 plus a piece of land. This hospital was opened in 1931. It soon was very prosperous. By 1941 during The II World War, all western personnel had to return home. The local workers struggled to keep it opened until 1946. After one year’s closure, the China Division sent Dr. Dick to reopen it, yet the civil war was fought so fiercely nearby, by 1948 it finally was closed and taken away from the SDA Church. In 1981 the writer visited Shenyang and lived in a hotel situated in a large compound. When we left the taxi driver lost his way so we were privileged to see the building.It was quite old. Even though it was then still being used as the business offices of the hotel.
